Restorative dentistry is a branch of dentistry that seeks to correct dental problems while helping to restore health and beauty to your smile. These problems may arise due to external injury, trauma, natural defects or lack of oral hygiene. Some of the most common issues for restorative dental patients include:
Recent technological advancements in this field have enabled our dentists to better diagnose and treat these cases with increased efficiency and improved aesthetics. Using high quality dental materials like composite resins and porcelain, we provide tooth restorations that not only look real, they feel and function like your own natural teeth!
Combining 3D imaging, CAD/CAM technology and a computer-aided milling process, CEREC offers a turnkey solution for all your ceramic and porcelain restorations – including crowns, veneers, inlays and outlays.
With CEREC technology, what used to take multiple visits to the dentist – waiting for your restoration to be created at a dental lab – can now be performed within a single appointment! No long waiting period. No temporary crown.
That’s because our CEREC dentist is able to take a digital impression of your tooth and create the crown on the spot using the latest CAD/CAM software that is linked to our in-house milling machine. Aided by these advanced tools, our restorative dentist can better focus on the final fitting process – and apply the finishing touches to give you that extra buff and shine!
Unlike removable appliances like dentures, we offer you the more permanent solution in crowns and bridges. These fixed dental devices are permanently cemented to your existing teeth and may only be removed by a dentist. While a crown serves as a tooth cap that sits directly on your damaged tooth, a bridge consists of one or more prosthetic tooth that fills in the gap left by missing teeth. The latter is typically anchored on each of the neighbouring tooth that “bookends” the gap.
In addition to strengthening a damaged tooth, a crown may be used to restore its shape, appearance or alignment. Ceramic or porcelain crowns offer aesthetically pleasing dental restorations that are robust and long lasting. Like crowns, porcelain bridges may be colour matched to blend in with the rest of your natural teeth.
Dental implants are small titanium posts that are strategically placed in the root of the missing tooth. The inserted implants are fused into the actual bone to form a root-like structure that anchor the prosthetic replacement tooth in place. Compared to dentures and bridges, dental implants present the more permanent solution for replacing one or more missing tooth. They also provide the most natural form of teeth replacement.
Whether from a functional or aesthetic standpoint, dental implants make a great option. Dental implants simply look and feel like real teeth – it’s virtually impossible to tell apart an implant-supported restoration from natural teeth. They also restore the original functions of your former teeth – like biting and chewing – so you no longer have to avoid certain types of food.
The two basic types of dentures are complete and partial. Full dentures comprise of a flesh-coloured acrylic base that fits over your gums and covers the roof of your mouth. This type of dental appliance is used to replace a whole set of missing teeth in the upper (maxillary) and lower (mandibular) arch.
The partial denture, also referred to as a bridge, is typically used to replace a few missing teeth. Full or partial dentures present a fairly affordable option to implants and offer highly predictable success rates. The modern removable dentures we provide use high quality material that promise improved aesthetics and resistance to wear and tear.
