During the first consultation, the dentist will take digital pictures of your child’s teeth with the iTero imaging system. The custom-made aligners are created from an all-digital process that starts with the taking of digital pictures, as opposed to impression moulds. This system, developed by highly experienced orthodontists, allows for a more precise implementation of the treatment plan and eliminates inaccuracies associated with rescanning the clay model.
The pictures provide precise 3D image renderings that will map out your child’s tooth movements from the beginning to the end of the treatment. The series of aligners will be fabricated to fit perfectly at every stage of the straightening process.
Each pair of aligners (upper and lower sets of teeth) is worn for about two weeks before being replaced by the next set in the series. The number of custom-fit aligners varies for each person.
